Why Heat Welding

Heat welding fuses seams in vinyl and resilient flooring into a single, continuous surface rather than leaving a butted or glued joint. Done correctly, the weld is stronger than the surrounding material and fully watertight — critical in healthcare, food service, and other environments where seam failure means moisture intrusion or a sanitation risk. Getting there takes the right sequence of tools: groove the seam, weld it with the correct rod and nozzle for the material, then trim and finish flush.
